Overt Cameras (CCTV)
Preventing crime in the first place is the ideal solution. The one thing that all criminals have in common is the desire not to get caught. An effective overt CCTV system monitoring your property and belongings can act as a wonderful deterrent to the criminal element in our midst.
However the key word to associate with any CCTV system is ‘effective’. Whilst carrying out security surveys we have found that a vast number of CCTV systems are actually not that effective and in some cases vast sums of money are being spent on systems that are simply not up to the job. For example, we often see cameras incorrectly sited, as well as captured footage that shows nothing more identifiable than a dark blob carrying out a criminal act. Our studies have shown that captured CCTV coverage can often be of such a low quality that it can be virtually impossible to positively identify the make of any suspect vehicle, let alone its colour or registration number.
